Game 7 — vs. Red & White Fireballs

Can you believe its Game 7 already?

This week we had another Fireballs team to go up against. Everyone was at keen to play and full of beans with only Jack D. missing due to ilnness.

These Fireballs played in red & white.

Every week we try to mix up the team split to ensure everyone gets to play with everyone. This weeks randomness was Cole W., Bryson B. & Bryson W. in one team and Travis S., Isaac K., Cole W. and Noah H. in the other.

In the first game this week, the Red & White Fireballs had a couple of decent players so it was going to be tough for Travis S., Isaac K., Cole W. and Noah H.

There was also had a gigantic puddle to contend with; which in the end helped stop three goals for the opposition so it wasn’t all bad. We were just concerned we might lose Noah H. if he ventured in for a paddle!

Referee Shawn B. did offer the kids a Slurpy if they fell in face first with no arms but surprisingly no one took him up on the offer.

The Red & White Fireballs zoomed into a quick lead, hitting three early goals. Pleasant Hill Fireballs were fighting hard and there was some fantastic DANGERZONE defence from all four of the guys to keep the score at only three.

Rocco B. was in great form again this week and his persistent annoying of the opposition and fast chasing resulted in two fine goals to pull the guys back into the game.

His tackling is great and his energy is boundless!

Noah H. added another goal to tie the game (at the right end this week) and for a couple seconds it was 3–3.

Noah H. had his second best game in a red Fireballs strip as he buzzed all over the pitch, defending, dribbling (pulling off a sublime Fake) and always looking to pass to his team mates.

Noah H. also quickly filled in for Bryson B. in the other game when he took a face knock. Well done wee man!

Isaac K. continues his improvement again this week. Everytime we see him play he is more and more involved. Some good annoying, ball winning and a couple of close misses on the goal. He was so close to a good breakaway goal this week and even though the ball bounced the other way, he keeps going with that great smile on his face.

Travis S. was on fire this week. He was ninja kicking all over the pitch, winning balls, tackling and being a pain in the backside for the opposition.

He scored a wonderful goal (one of the best I have seen this year) and it was a slow motion spectacular as he won the ball in his own half, kicked ahead, chased, stumbled, got back up, chased and then rocketed the ball into the net. Sublime.

Even better, he almost did it again a few minutes later, the ball cruelly rattling off the post.

His best game so far.

In the end, the Red & White Fireballs pulled away to win 9–4 but for a good chunk of the game it was very close. Our guys never stopped going right till the end. Fantastic. On another day they would win this game.

In the other game this week Cole W., Bryson B. & Bryson W. short handedly took on a full strength Red & White Fireballs team and put in an impressive display to comfortably win the game 11–1.

Bryson W. led the way with several goals, tremendous tackling and dominating defense.

Cole W. had his best game yet. He continues to get better each week. He had several goals and several saves on defense. He gave a great effort racing to get between the opposition and their goal.

He even attempted (and pulled off) a great backheel to confuse the opposition and clear the ball.

Bryson B. was a lean mean dribbling machine. He showed excellent ball control and danced around the opposition while protecting the ball. He had several great shots and some nice defensive stops.

Great all around game for all three guys. It’s the first time we’ve seen everyone score in one game.
